The misrepresentation in certain sections of the media of what the UK Supreme Court's recent ruling actually means is outrageous. The ruling clarified that women and girls have sex-based rights under British law, and that those rights haven't changed since women gained them. Trans activist lobby groups lied about what the law said. They claimed trans-identified men were entitled to everything women were entitled to, under the law. This false interpretation, which removed sex-based rights from women and girls and gave trans-identified men additional rights, may have been imposed upon large sections of society, but it was always illegal, as countless legal experts and grassroots women's groups fought to have recognised. The Supreme Court restored to women rights they'd lost in practice. Trans-identified men lost nothing in law, because they'd never had the rights they claimed they had. The media types now hyperventilating in print because trans people's rights have been 'reduced' are still lying. Nothing has been taken from trans-identified people except a false belief, and women have simply regained what they should have had all along.

@lazuliSith @TedMoondust It isn't the ability to produce eggs and sperm that defines biological sex, but the fact that our bodies are organised to produce one or the other, and this applies even if an individual has a DSD (difference of sexual development). If, as has been suggested by experts, Khelif has 5-ARD, he's a man with typically male muscle mass and XY chromosomes. 5-ARD affects only men. The very condition that may have caused him to be wrongly classified as female at birth would prove beyond doubt that he is male.

@TedMoondust I don't think Khelif can be classed as trans, because his claim has always been that he's biologically female, not that he 'identifies' as a woman. Imo, the only relevance of trans issues to Khelif's case is that the IOC fudged the sex testing requirements because they thought taking that would keep them safe from the ire of gender activists, and screw the consequences for female boxers. I've said this before: I have nothing but sympathy for anyone who sincerely believes they're one sex, because that's what they've been told all their life, and then finds out they're the other. That must be a truly shattering moment and I can see why said person would take refuge in denial. Some have argued 'but once puberty hit, how could he not know?' but I think that underestimates how much social conditioning and wishful thinking can blind a person to the truth. All of that said: I have no sympathy for the people surrounding a male boxer who keep pretending, to him and to others, that he's female after seeing the test results, nor for a fully-fledged adult man who's able to comprehend that he's male and has an insurmountable physical advantage when facing a female opponent. At that point, he and everyone else involved in promulgating the lie is knowingly risking the possibility that a female opponent will suffer brain damage or death, just so he can keep winning medals. That's an outrage that far surpasses any harm done to Khelif by taking a cheek swab and accepting facts. He's free to keep boxing, just in the proper sex category. All he loses is the opportunity to cheat.

This is a lie, and an easily provable lie. I’ve spent the best part of three decades funding initiatives and donating to charities serving vulnerable women, including domestic violence shelters. The charitable trust I set up in 2000 focuses on alleviating social deprivation, with a focus on women and children, including female refugees. I’ve funded an initiative to help female ex-prisoners secure jobs, I helped fly professional women out of Afghanistan because they were in danger from the Taliban, I’ve publicly voiced my support for women’s reproductive rights, I founded and fund a women-only rape crisis centre and I’ve campaigned for and funded projects to help single mothers. I myself am a survivor of domestic abuse and sexual assault, as trans activists never tire of reminding me, whether to hope it happens to me again, or assert, as Maugham has, that I was left with unresolved trauma that leaves me irrational on the subject of physical risk to women. Maugham is imploding in real time because he’s furious the Supreme Court decision put him back in his box. He was wrong on the law. He pretended it said what it doesn’t. The court reaffirmed the sex-based rights of women, but Maugham’s vanity and delusion make it impossible for him to accept (yet another) loss. So his grift continues, his lies grow bigger and more obvious, and now might be a good time for him to reread the myth of Icarus, because nobody needs clairvoyant powers to foresee how this is going to end.

The only people who consider it 'anti-feminist' to point out that a woman is a woman by virtue of her biology are those who think female-specific anatomy or bodily functions are inferior in some way, that bearing young is a lowly, worthless occupation, or that misogynist social stereotypes are a worthier measure of who's a real woman. Possessing the equipment for egg production should neither tie you to any particular destiny, nor diminish the human being who has it; the female reproductive system is neither shameful nor lesser, but it's certainly treated that way in too many parts of the world. Indeed, it's treated that way by plenty of misogynists in supposedly liberal democracies, which might partially explain why so many young women have come to believe that, if they want to be accorded full personhood rather than becoming a pornified sex object, they'll only be able to do it by erasing all physical signs of femaleness. The problem is not their anatomy, it's the society, or indeed the family, that made them feel that way. Pretending sex differences don't matter does nothing to advance the lot of women and girls. Promoting the idea that men can become women by performing their idea of what a woman is - which, funnily enough, often turns out to be a pornified sex object - does not liberate women and girls. The attempt to redefine the word 'woman' by dismissing female biology benefits only the men who've been eagerly helping themselves to women's protected spaces, sport, opportunities and honours - or, in the Fox Batterer's case, who've jumped eagerly onto the movement's coattails because they're spotlight addicts and believe they'll go down in history as Genderism's Gandhi.
