A woman with a DSD remains a woman. The presence or absence of the SRY gene at conception causes us to be male or female, but in 99.9% of cases, the equipment we develop is proof of whether it's present or absent.

Being a woman isn't an essence, it's a material, provable fact. I'm not a female human being because society or history made me one, or because I picked the 'woman' category on some metaphysical spreadsheet. I'm a woman because I was born with the equipment to produce large gametes. My biology isn't my destiny unless I'm unfortunate enough to live in a society like Afghanistan where my femaleness is punished from birth. My biology does, however, mean I am likely to have experiences no man ever will. If I'd been raised by robots in outer space who had no understanding of social categories or gendered norms I'd still provably be a woman, not a man. I'd certainly suffer some deprivation from not associating with other humans, but on the upside, I'd never have to listen to pseudo-intellectual drivel like this.

They assume trans women have had full sex reassignment surgery and an androphillic orientation and are genuinely incredulous at the idea that a straight man might claim a trans identification, or that gender identify ideology supports the admission of fully intact, gynephillic males into female spaces. It's so far outside their experience they think it's a far-fetched scare story.

@fem_mb @ForWomenScot I’m entitled to say this, because I just turned 60. A lot of older liberals (in both the US and the UK) have brought very old-fashioned sensibilities to this debate. They’re still locked into the idea that all trans women are, or were, effeminate gay men, and they’re perplexed that any woman would see them as a threat. These are people who’ve never met an AGP in the wild, don’t understand online cultures, know nothing about trends in porn, aren’t on TikTok where ‘gender-affirming’ surgeons advertise directly to minors, and they’ve aged out of having kids at school, so have no notion that social contagion might be at play. They look round at all their similarly aged dinner party friends, none of whom are aware of any of these things either, and adopt a vibe-based position: this is gay rights 2.0, anyone who opposes it must be far-right, and thank goodness Our Sort are kinder, better, and (most importantly) far more sophisticated.

This shift in attitudes shown below isn't because of increased intolerance, but of an increase in understanding, and trans activists themselves bear the greatest responsibility for the change. Five years ago, a lot of medical bodies (and trans activist organisations, lobby groups and virtue-signalling celebrities) were united in telling us that puberty blockers were completely reversible and harmless. As more and more evidence accrues showing actual and potential harm, public opinion, unlike trans activism, has shifted in line with the data. Five years ago, the sophisticated, fashionable line was that sex difference didn't really matter in sport. Trans activists demanded that the women's category be destroyed to accommodate men who claim to be female, but the public wasn't willing to pretend they couldn't see the injustice right in front of their faces. Five years ago, trans activists and professional lanyard- wearers were chiding us all to use preferred pronouns, because that was kind. Now the public see convicted rapists described as 'she' and 'her' by news outlets and are rightly enraged that journalists are feeding us ideological fiction instead of facts. Five years ago, a lot of people, especially older ones, were under the impression that trans-identified men had all had full sex reassignment surgery and were sexually orientated towards other men. They didn't know that cross-dressing straight men were now asserting the right to enter all women's reserved spaces. They didn't know how few trans women have had 'bottom surgery.' They know now. Trans activists are to blame for the hounding and persecution of non-believers, which has spilled into British courts. Women have had to fight all over again for rights they thought they'd have forever. The Cass Review brought shame on all who lobbied to continue a broadly unresearched and unevidenced medical experiment on minors. Trust in institutions, in academia, the media and the medical profession has been severely undermined. Politicians have beclowned themselves, willing to parrot self-contradictory slogans and outright absurdities rather than defend truth and freedom of speech. The stark change in attitudes over the past five years is the direct consequence of the way trans activists set out to 'educate' us all. Giddy with the power they'd been handed by people in authority, they've tried to impose a quasi-religious, elitist, minority belief upon the whole of society. They can't complain (although, of course, they will) that the public has decided it doesn't want to buy what they're selling.

I don't think anyone feels less revulsion for men wearing fetishwear around kids than they did before gender identity ideology arrived to justify and excuse it. The 80s were full of gender-bending clothes etc and nobody pretended it meant dress-and-make-up-wearing men were women. This movement has been imposed top-down, not at a grassroots level. Certain very dubious men have been gifted a fabulous opportunity not only to indulge their kink in daily life, but to cry victimhood if opposed. They're getting away with it because so many captured institutions and lobby groups have got their backs, not because the general public has decided grown men putting on lipstick and invading women's single-sex spaces is great.

I dislike seeing men performing a degrading or hypersexualised version of what they think a woman is and I object strongly to men parading their fetishes in front of kids. However, even if society agrees that there are forms of dress that are highly inappropriate in, for instance, a classroom, setting out to police dress and beliefs outside certain clearly defined contexts is a very slippery slope.

A large number of people (mostly men, in my experience) who're sympathetic to some of women's opposition to gender identity ideology, nevertheless think it's cruel to point out that a trans-identified man looks like a man, and unkind not to 'respect' his pronouns. They think these are 'compromises' women should be prepared to make. 'What does it matter?' they say. 'How does it hurt you?' The psychological effects of being coerced, manipulated or pressured into doing something that is against a person's own beliefs or values are well known. 'Moral injury' occurs when a person is forced to betray deep-held convictions, or stand in silence while those convictions are being betrayed. The individual feels transgressed at a core level. The inevitable consequences are stress, anxiety and anger. Workplaces across the west have imposed a Kafkaesque situation on women. A belief system most people consider nonsensical, but which, in elite circles, has become almost a religion, has been imposed from on high. Women are being persecuted and punished for not pretending they think men can change sex. The policing of pronouns, and the harassment and shaming of women who won't pretend they can't recognise a man when they see one, is merely the tip of genderism's gigantic, threatening iceberg. Any man who seeks to force women to play along with the fantasy that he's female is engaging in a typically male power play. At worst, he will suffer narcissistic injury from her non-compliance, but that doesn't make him objectively vulnerable. The non-compliant woman, though, suffers lasting moral injury by being forced to participate daily in a lie - a lie, moreover, that constitutes a fundamental threat to her own rights to privacy, dignity and safety. It has been profoundly illuminating to see how many people - possibly because their own values spring, not from a place of rationality or true conviction, but from fashion and self-interest - see male narcissistic injury as so very much more worthy of compassion than the moral injuries suffered by women.

The Sandie Peggie employment tribunal is currently exposing, as perhaps no court case to date has, the issue of class as it relates to the top-down imposition of gender identity ideology in the workplace. 'Diversity officer' Isla Bumba has now admitted in court that she didn't bother consulting the 1992 regulations guaranteeing single-sex spaces when she told a trans-identified male, Dr Beth Upton, to use the female changing room at the hospital where he was working. Bumba justified this decision with comments that I assume sounded really clever and convincing, inside her own head. 'I don’t know anything about Beth’s body. I didn’t at the time. I don’t now. I don’t need to know. But it wouldn’t be something that I would ever have the information of exactly what she is made of, biologically.' Kate Searle, a consultant in emergency medicine, backed Bumba up, expressing outrage on the witness stand that anyone would be so insensitive as to ask about Upton's chromosomes. ‘I could only imagine how upsetting and invasive a question that would be for Beth, and also not relevant to a colleague to ask another colleague. Beth identifies as female, and it does not matter what her chromosomes are to her.’ In Bumba and Searle's world, a belief that gender identity trumps biological sex is proof you're intellectually and morally superior to women like Sandie Peggie, so I'd imagine it's come as a shock to discover, in a blaze of public and press scrutiny, just how idiotic and cruel they appear to people outside their dinner party circle. When Upton, a 6' tall, 28-year-old ex-rugby playing male, claimed that a petite 50-year-old female nurse was making him feel 'unsafe', his word appears to have been taken as gospel. Searle, Bumba and management fell over themselves to coddle the middle-class doctor who shared their voguish post-modern views on gender. What did Sandie matter? She's just one of those ghastly uninformed bigots who still thinks sex is real and important - so embarrassingly gauche and simplistic! Whisper it - she probably drinks red wine with chicken, too. According to @tribunaltweets, an emotional Searle blurted out on the stand 'I am kind.' This is not something genuinely kind people need to say. Genuinely kind people don't find themselves compelled to explain in court why they helped whip up a witch-hunt against a woman whose only crime was wanting to change her clothes without a man watching. Well, the nurse who was supposed to shuffle off in disgrace wasn't having it. Sandie Peggie refused to be sacrificed on the altar of elitist ideologues who believe themselves to be higher and better than she is. She fought back, for herself and for every other woman who's currently being silenced, persecuted and punished by a smug management class that preens itself on its virtue while imposing rampantly misogynistic policies on its workforce. Sandie Peggie is a heroine. The woman NHS Fife thought they could treat abominably without any consequences to themselves has succeeded in shining the brightest spotlight yet upon the brain rot and compassion deficit suffered by supposedly intelligent people when they embrace gender identity ideology. @FemCondition 98% of sex offenders are male, irrespective of how the men 'identify'. In the UK, a higher proportion of convicted sex offenders are found among trans-identifying men than in the general male prison population. Time and again, some of the loudest and most aggressive activists in what you call the 'trans movement' have turned out to be dangerous and/or depraved. Sarah Jane Baker. Stephen Ireland. Peter Bright. Eric Joyce. Gordon Pike. Lexi Secker. David Challenor. Aiden Bunag. How many more rotten apples need to turn up before you accept that you've got a problem? Every rational person can see that gender identity ideology offers predatory men opportunities and camouflage. If you genuinely cared about vulnerable people, especially children, you'd be sorting out your movement's very poor track record on rooting out the abusers lurking in your ranks, and stop pretending that pro-safeguarding people are the enemy.
