The Honourable Chris Kourakis has issued a statement referring to my 'anxiety' about the use of female pronouns for men standing trial for violence against women and rape. He states that 'a victim of crime would never be asked to address an accused person in a way which caused the victim distress.' That assurance is welcome, although I note that he’s addressed the matter only after it was raised publicly. No such exemption is mentioned in the Practice Note, which takes the ideological position that the ‘use of preferred gender pronouns is a matter of respect’. The natural inference is that a woman would be considered guilty of disrespect if she, alone in the courtroom, described her male attacker as a man, while all court officials were addressing and describing him as a woman. This is not a hypothetical situation. The judge will be aware, if he's informed himself – as he implies I have not - that I've already cited an example where a 60-year-old woman was violently assaulted by a 26-year-old trans-identified male. She was chided by the judge for displaying 'bad grace' by not using her attacker's preferred pronouns. The Practice Note does not acknowledge that in sexual and violent crimes committed by men against women, there is a clear clash of rights. The woman has a right - indeed, a legal duty - to speak truthfully about the male violence/sexual violence to which she was subjected. Meanwhile the Practice Note says that court officials should respectfully use female pronouns for the attacker if he says he identifies as a woman. The likely effect on a traumatised woman of hearing her attacker addressed and described as a female by the court is neither mentioned nor addressed in the Practice Note. Respect, it seems, goes only one way. Millions of women are losing confidence in judicial systems that have adopted an ideological position with which they do not agree. In the very place where they go to seek justice, a woman may now be obliged to listen to court officials asserting they were raped or beaten by a fellow woman. Such women are not merely ‘anxious’, they are furious, about the apparent inability of certain men, judges or not, to understand how dystopian this situation seems to those of us who have suffered male sexual violence.

You denied that Maria MacLachlan was punched, even though it was stated clearly in the headline of the article you yourself posted. You were shown video of said assault, but continued to jeer, asserting that the victim suffered 'a light slap', in a Tweet you've now deleted. These are not the pronouncements of a man who takes male violence against women seriously. On the contrary, with every denial of plain fact and minimisation of the offence, every 'lol', every airy reference to 'ACTUAL' beatings, you reveal yourself as a man who's indifferent at best to women being physically intimidated or hit. Out of interest, how many punches does a woman have to take for it to qualify as a @WVSoccerdad-approved, actual beating? What would you want to see - broken bones? Decent bit of blood? Now let's examine your own approach to rational debate. All of this began when you thrust your way onto my timeline to tell me I was lying. With your 'come down from the cross' comment, which was made two Tweets in, you whipped out the standard 'playing the victim' card against the woman you were calling in a liar. Some might not see this as rational debate. Some might even say you've been offensive from the start: to me, to Maria MacLachlan, and to every person disgusted by what happened to her. Now you're huffy because people have called you a misogynist. Violent assault of a woman: lol-worthy. Your hurt feelings: very serious business. 'You should be better than this', you say. Try and grasp - it'll be hard, I know - that my interest in your opinion of me is roughly equivalent to my interest in how much dust is currently under my fridge. I know you think you're a heckuva great guy, and it's come as a shock to get feedback that suggests not everyone agrees, so here's some unsolicited advice, in exchange for all you've given me. In future, try mocking women being knocked around in the privacy of your own house, instead of 'lol'-ing about it on the internet.

When a man asserts that lesbianism is ‘a sensibility at odds with women’s biological reality’, what does that say about his view of women’s bodies? That the ‘biological reality’ of the female body is dependent on its owner having sex with men? Are we less real, or less female, if men aren’t reaping sexual pleasure from our bodies? That’s profoundly offensive to any woman who hasn’t signed up to the idea that women aren’t definable except by the most regressive stereotypes ever seen outside a Busby Berkley musical. (I suspect, though, that Bragg couldn’t really explain what he was saying. He just thought it sounded clever and pressed send.)

As @PatrickStrud has blocked me on here (we've never, to my knowledge, interacted on Twitter or anywhere else) I can't challenge him directly about the claim he published in iNews (see below) that a Let Women Speak event in Australia 'staged a mass Nazi salute'. This is a lie so brazen, so easily disprovable and so libellous, I'm amazed it was allowed into print by a supposedly reputable news source. For years now, women and gay people concerned about the erosion of their rights, the dismantling of safeguarding and the escalating threats and violence of trans activists have been called 'fascists' and 'Nazis' by people like Strudwick for holding what, until five minutes ago, were solidly left-wing/feminist political positions. Nobody but useful idiots can be genuinely surprised that REAL fascists have spotted a glorious opportunity in trans activism. The homophobic, anti-feminist far-right has long held that the left is degenerate, foolish, immoral and authoritarian, and now they can point to the incoherent arguments of the gender ideologues, the bullying tactics of the no-platformers and the swarms of masked men threatening violence against women for wanting to retain single-sex spaces, and crow 'we told you so'. Actual Nazis have turned up on the fringes of Let Women Speak events for exactly the same reason aggressive, narcissistic trans activists are there. These groups closely resemble each other. Both are rife with misogynistic opportunists who're using a clash of rights to push their own agendas, both are there in the hope of violence, and neither gives a damn about the women who're there to speak out in their own voices, about their own lives, on their own behalf. It's high time those peddling lies like Strudwick's are held accountable and I sincerely hope @ThePosieParker takes action.
